Volleyball team defeats LakeVille, loses to Holly
The volleyball team split its two matches last week.
LakeVille
The Hornets beat LakeVille 3-2 in a non-league match Thursday, Sept. 20.
While the Hornets lost the first match 25-15, they made a comeback, winning the next two matches 27-25 and 25-9.
Senior Chloe Vollmar led the Hornets with 12 serves in a row, including five aces.
“We definitely started off slow against LakeVille, but we eventually started playing our game and we never gave up,” Vollmar said. “Coming back the way we did really shows that we have a lot of heart.”
The team went on to lose the fourth match 25-15, but won the final match 16-14.
Senior Mackenzie Ramey contributed 14 kills and junior Kamryn Palka put up seven blocks. Senior Lindsay Flynn scooped up 17 digs.
Holly
Kearsley lost its match against Holly 3-0 on Tuesday, Sept. 18.
The Hornets lost all three matches 25-11, 25-19, 25-16.
Senior Mickeely Dias led the team with nine assists and 10 digs.
The team will travel to Linden for its next match Tuesday, Sept. 25.
Kearsley is 0-4 in the Flint Metro League, while Linden is 1-3.
