Griffin, Ramey take gold in Badar Invitational

On Tuesday, May 29, members of the track and field teams competed at the Norb Badar Invitational.

For the girls, junior Mackenzie Ramey won the shot put at the annual end-of-the-season classic held at Carman-Ainsworth Junior High School.

Ramey’s throw was 37 feet, 9 inches.

For the boys in the 400-meter dash, senior Tre’Ron Griffin (51.35) and sophomore Raydoffa Braziel (52.33) sprinted to first and third, respectively.

Freshman Braylon Silvas took fifth in the 110 high hurdles with a time of 16.42.

Silvas also set a personal record in the long jump with a leap of 21-2, which was good enough for fourth.

The 800-relay team of Griffin, Braziel, senior Carlos Macedo, and senior Taveon Harris placed third with a 1:33.69 finish.

That team will compete in the Division 2 state final on Saturday, June 2.

Griffin and Braziel will also compete individually in the 400 dash and 800 run, respectively, while Ramey will compete in the shot put.
