Boys bowling ensures a piece of the league trophy

Over the long weekend, the Hornets defeated both Brandon and Clio, clinching at least a piece of the Metro League title.

The boys bowling team’s record now is now 13-2.

The Hornets are now in first place in the Metro League with Swartz Creek in second with a 13-3 record.

Clio

The Hornets traveled to face the Mustangs on Saturday, Feb. 10.

Kearsley was victorious against Clio 24-6.

The win combined with the Swartz Creek loss to Flushing guaranteed the Hornets a share of the Metro League championship.

Senior Seth Varner led the Hornets, defeating his opponent 258-257.

Assisting Varner was junior Kyle Langworthy with a 235, senior Chase Gebhardt bowling 214, and senior Jake Reid with a 213.

Brandon

Kearsley took on Brandon at Richfield bowl Thursday, Feb. 8.

The Hornets defeated the Blackhawks 18-12.

Leading the way was senior Justin Todd, who bowled a 245.

Following Todd was Varner with a 203 and Gebhardt, throwing a 184.

Langworthy, ending his tight match with a strike, defeated his opponent 164-160.

The Hornets will be back in action Thursday, Feb. 15, against Flushing at B’s Bowling.

Flushing sits in third place in the league at 12-3.

If the Hornets beat the Raiders, Kearsley wins the league outright.

But if Flushing prevails, there will be a three-way tie for the league championship among Kearsley, Flushing, and Swartz Creek.
