If you need help achieving the perfect look, here’s what three beauty fans had to say.

When it comes to makeup, senior Alexis Fidler likes to keep things simple.

“I don’t usually go crazy with my makeup, but I’ve been getting better and better since the first day I tried it,” Fidler said.

Fidler has been experimenting with makeup for about five years. During this time, she has picked up a few tips.

Tip #1

Fidler explains a tactic she uses to help perfect her eye shadow looks.

“One of my favorite things is when I get a stark line with my eye shadow,” Fidler said. “To get the stark line use either skin safe tape, or use a makeup remover wipe or Q-tip to perfect the line.”

Tip #2

Don’t hide your natural beauty — the less makeup the better.

Sophomore Britney Ambs loves to express herself through her makeup.

“Don’t cover up too much, to the point where you lose the real masterpiece underneath,” Fidler said. “Makeup is meant to enhance the natural beauty we already have.”

Sophomore Britney Ambs lets her true colors shine through with the help of makeup.

“Makeup is something that let’s me express myself,” Ambs said. “If one day I’m extremely happy, I can wear bright colors on my eyelids. Or, If I’m feeling a bit sad, black is definitely one of my favorite ways to go.”

Ambs has used her talent as a calming method. Through this she has learned a lot.

Tip #3

Beauty takes time and should not be rushed.

“A lot of people seem to get really upset if things don’t come out great the first time they try,” Ambs said. “I definitely don’t get things even or how I want them to look like all the time.”

Ambs is a fan of keeping calm and trying again.

“Just keep your cool and do what you need to do to fix it,” Ambs said. “It’ll, more than likely, get better in the end.”

Tip #4

Accept other’s criticism.

Makeup is a part of who I am, and it makes me feel really good about myself.

“When people give you advice on your makeup, it’s not because you did a bad job nor that they’re hating on your masterpiece. They’re just trying to help you,” Ambs said. “Taking other’s advice may actually be beneficial to you. I’ve taken advice from so many people, and my makeup skills have definitely grown from when I first started.”

Senior Karlee Griffin uses makeup as a way to express her individuality.

“Makeup is a part of who I am, and it makes me feel really good about myself,” Griffin said. “It’s cool because at the end of the day, I can just wash it all off and my natural face is right there.”

Griffin started wearing makeup when she was 12 years old.

Tip #5

Griffin loves that dry shampoo adds volume to her hair.

“I like to use dry shampoo on my hair,” Griffin said. “Dry shampoo is very inexpensive at the drugstore, and it will give your hair lots of volume and leave it feeling refreshed.”
