Mr. Brian Wiskur, principal, clasps the queen’s cloak on senior Kaylee Hill after she was named 2017 homecoming queen Friday, Oct. 13.

A homecoming tradition continued Friday, Oct. 13, with the announcement of the queen.

Senior Kaylee Hill was crowned the 2017 homecoming queen.

“I’m just speechless,” Hill said. “I would have never thought this opportunity would happen for me. I’m beyond excited.”

Hill was one of the five girls that were on the queen’s court. The other girls were seniors Jada Brown, Karlee Griffin, Hayley Roush, and Zoe Zaravelis.

As a member of the court, Griffin said it was fitting that Hill was chosen.

“She’s very deserving of being homecoming queen,” Griffin said. “She has an amazing personality. She’s very caring toward everyone.”

Hill has attended Kearsley her whole life. She is active with sports, school activities, and clubs.

Senior Kaylee Hill stands with her mother, Ms. Vernnise Williams, and brother, Mr. Anton Webster, during the halftime queen’s ceremony. Hill was named the 2017 homecoming queen.

She is a member of NHS, Student Council, and cheer. She also enjoys choir and yearbook.

Senior Amanda VanOoteghem is happy that Hill was crowned queen.

“She deserves (to be) queen because she is so involved in this school,” VanOoteghem said. “She is always so happy and friendly and always has a smile on her face.”

Hill is beyond grateful for the opportunity.

“I would like to thank my class for voting for me and giving me the honor for being queen,” Hill said. “I would also like to thank my mom and my friends for the never-ending support. I’m just, overall, grateful.”
