Seniors need to know where to be and when to be there

The senior timeline has important information for graduates.

There are several events senior year, and it may be difficult for students to keep up.

Here is a detailed list of upcoming events all seniors and parents need to know.

Exams

Exams start Thursday, May 26.

Students will be taking their fourth-, fifth-, and sixth-hour exams from 10:42 a.m.-2:20 p.m.

The next day, Friday, May 27, students will take their first-, second-, and third-hour exams from 7:30-10:37 a.m.

May 27 is the official last day of high school for seniors.

Those with six exam exemptions will finish on Wednesday, May 25.

Cap, gown, and ticket distribution

Graduating seniors may pick up their caps, gowns, and graduation tickets Friday, May 27, at 12:30 p.m. in the auditorium.

Students must bring a completed check-out form with them. signed by all of their teachers.

Senior Choice Awards

Winners of each award are voted on by the Senior Class.

Some of the categories include best dressed, best smile, and class snoozer.

A boy and a girl are chosen for each category.

The ceremony will take place Tuesday, May 31, at 7 p.m. in the auditorium.

Senior Athletic Awards and practice

A run-through before Senior Athletic Awards is required for all student-athletes who will be attending.

The practice is at 8:30 a.m. on Wednesday, June 1.

The actual awards are later that day at 7 p.m. in the auditorium.

Cord distribution

Before Class Day begins, students must pick up their cords and stoles.

On Wednesday, June 1, at noon, students should arrive at the school to pick up their cords before Class Day begins.

Class Day

Class Day is an optional event for students and parents.

It is at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, June 1, in the gym.

Students must wear their caps and gowns to walk through the gym in front of all of the juniors and underclassmen.

Parents, grandparents, friends, and siblings are encouraged to come.

Seniors will be performing, the senior skit will be played, and students joining the military will be honored.

Honors Convocation and practice

Honors Convocation and its practice are on the same day in the auditorium.

Practice begins at 8:30 a.m. on Thursday, June 2, and, just like all the other events, is required.

Honors Convocation is at 7 p.m.

Students should receive an invitation in the mail if they have a 3.0 or higher GPA.

All students invited will be receiving something, whether it is an award or scholarship.

Baccalaureate

Baccalaureate is a religious ceremony for students that choose to attend.

This is not required.

This event begins at 7 p.m. on Friday, June 3.

Commencement and practice

Commencement practice is the day before Commencement.

Practice is Friday, June 3, at 9 a.m. at The Whiting.

This is mandatory for all students who plan on walking across the stage.

Commencement is the following day, Saturday, June 4. It starts at 7 p.m. at The Whiting.

It is suggested for parents, grandparents, and others with tickets to arrive early so they can get decent seats.
