Fenton sweeps tennis team

Senior Shelby Coates lost her match 6-4, 6-0 against Fenton on Monday, April 25.

The tennis team lost 8-0 against Fenton at home Monday, April 25.

Although no singles players or doubles teams from Kearsley won their matches, there were strong performances from players, including from senior Shelby Coates at No. 2 doubles.

Coates put up a fight, but ultimately lost her match 6-4, 6-0.

At No. 3 doubles, senior Alysa Figgins lost 6-3, 6-2.

Another solid match came from senior Jasmine Patrick and junior Hannah Hendley, at No. 1 doubles, with a final score of 6-2, 6-1.

Coates believes that everyone tried their best.

“Although we lost, everyone played hard against Fenton, which has such a competitive team,” Coates said.

The Hornets next match is Thursday, April 28, at Swartz Creek.
