Tennis drops match to Flushing

The tennis team lost its first match of the season against Flushing 7-1 on Tuesday, April 19.

The only victory came from senior Alysa Figgins, at No. 3 singles, winning in the first and third sets 6-2, 4-6, 6-4.

Figgins was “very excited” about her win.

“I was told that Flushing would be one of the hardest opponents to play for the season,” Figgins said. “I am proud of how well my team stood their ground. It was a very tough match and everyone put in there best effort and did not give up.”

The No. 2 doubles team of senior Aysia Booth and freshman Stephanie Lane may have lost but turned in a solid performance 7-5, 6-2.

They had the highest score out of all of the doubles teams.

The Hornets next match is at 4 p.m. on Thursday, April 21, at Holly.
