No one wants to live with a pig, except the Bailey family

Senior Madison Bailey may have gotten the most unique present for Christmas this year.

Her mother, Ms. Stacy Studer-Bailey, gave Madison the perfect present — Wilbur, the micro pig.

Madison wanted a pig for four years before her mom finally caved and brought one home.

Pigs are Madison’s favorite animal.

The Baileys have other animals, including two dogs and a guinea pig.

“I am going to start charging admission for people to come over,” Stacy chuckled.

Wilbur the pig is definitely a show, and I had the pleasure of meeting him.

He is energetic, outgoing, and smart.

“Wilbur acts like an only child, just like Madison,” Stacy said.

He knows how to do tricks, including “up,” “kiss,” and “sit.”

“He is basically a toddler,” Madison said.

He loves Gerber’s Puffs and Cheerios for treats.

“He even sleeps in a playpen,” Stacy added.

Wilbur is so smart that he knows to shove all of his blankets into the corner and use them as a stepping stool so he can hop out.

Occasionally, he sleeps in bed with Stacy and with Madison, but the women have to be careful not to move too much.

“He will definitely bite you,” Madison said. “He bites my mom harder than me though.”

The Baileys described Wilbur as a “stinker.”

“He’s a stinker, that is for sure,” Stacy said. “He is always happy, though. He looks like he is smiling.”

As a pet, Wilbur takes work. He has to be stimulated constantly.

He has a rooting mat that he rubs his nose on.

Stacy bought an enclosure for him to hangout out in, but that did not work out how she expected.

“It is supposed to be able to hold Rottweilers, but he still shoves it into the corner,” Madison said.

Wilbur even plays in a ball pit.

He loves just about any foods.

He mainly eats micro pig pellets, but he also likes fruits and vegetables.

“He needs to learn some manners and stop chewing with his mouth open,” Stacy said.

I only hung out with the Baileys and Wilbur for 30 minutes. But I could tell they love Wilbur and that he loves them.

Stacy may talk as if she wants to get rid of him “if he was not cute,” but it is easy to see that she adores him.

Wilbur is lucky to have landed in such a warm and loving home.
