The Hornets perform back-walkovers during round two at the regional competition on Saturday, Feb. 27, hosted by Allen Park.

The cheer team took sixth place at the MHSAA regional tournament hosted by Allen Park on Saturday, Feb. 27.

The top four teams advanced to the state meet. Gibraltar Carlson won, followed by Allen Park, Trenton, and Dearborn Divine Child.

The Hornets received a total of 220.9 points for round one, 210.12 points for round two, and 305.7 points for round three.

With a total score of 736.72 points, the team was less than 40 points away from tying for fourth place.

The Hornets ended up beating their closest rivals: Clio and Brandon.

Many cheerleaders, including senior Payton Cantrell, are impressed with how high they placed at the competition.

“We have come a long way since the beginning of the season,” Cantrell said. “We have improved so much, and I am so proud of my team.”

This was the Hornets’ last competition of the season.
