Now that Thanksgiving is over, the Christmas season has begun.

On Black Friday, many shoppers bought Christmas gifts and decorations for their houses. Coming back to school on Dec. 1, many students decided to show their holiday spirit through fashion.

Senior Angie Greer has many Christmas sweaters. Greer said that she might even have up to 20.

“It’s never too early to wear Christmas sweaters,” Greer said.

Some students feel as though the Christmas spirit is overrated.

“It really frustrates me (when people do not have holiday spirit),” Greer said, “I love Christmas.”

Senior Jordan Harper thinks that Christmas sweaters are a good way to spread Christmas spirit.

“December is Christmas time,” Harper said. “I think Christmas sweaters are cool and warm.”

To get students in the holiday spirit, Mrs. Kim Guest and Mrs. Colene Wilcox have put together a Christmas Spirit Week starting Dec. 15.

  • Monday is Green and Red Day.
  • Tuesday is Santa Hat/Christmas Sock Day.
  • Wednesday is Christmas Tree Day.
  • Thursday is Ugly Sweater Day.
  • Friday is Christmas PJ Day.

Wilcox’s fourth hour came up with the ideas for each day.

Those who dress up on each day can check in at lunch. Each student will be entered into a drawing for a prize, food, or apparel from the Hornets Nest.

Guest and Wilcox also came up with the competition among the teacher’s doors.

This year’s spirit week is the first Christmas Spirit Week Kearsley has ever had.

Guest said that she thinks there will be a good turn out.
