The Hornets compete during round two at Davison on Saturday, Jan. 16.

The cheer team took third place on Saturday, Jan. 16, at an invitational hosted by Davison.

South Lyon won the competition, trailed by Clio.

With a score of 705.54 points, the girls were only 8.58 points away from tying for runner-up.

Kearsley would have placed second, but due to a penalty received in round three for a stunt falling, they did not.

The team earned a score of 213.5 points in round one, 198.74 points in round two, and 293.3 points in round three.

Junior Madison Teed is hoping for a better round three score at their next competition.

“Overall, we did pretty good at the competition, but we need to focus on fixing round three,” Teed said. “All of the rounds need some work, but as a team we need to make sure no more stunts drop during a competition. It causes us a lot of penalties.”

The Hornets next competition is Saturday, Jan. 23, at Swartz Creek.
