Flyers hit their stunts during round three of a league competition on Saturday, Jan. 9, at Flushing.

The cheer team took fifth place at a league meet hosted by Brandon on Wednesday, Jan. 13.

Brandon won the competition, trailed by Clio. Swartz Creek took third, followed by Fenton.

Kearsley earned a score of 218.5 points in round one, 203.84 points in round two, and 283.7 points in round three.

With a total score of 414.34 points for rounds one and two, the team hoped to snag one of the top three places by doing well in the third round but did not.

The Hornets received a few eight-point penalties which disappointed many of the cheerleaders, including senior Bethanie Freeman.

“The competition went OK, but it could have gone a lot better,” Freeman said.  “Penalties really did some damage to the team’s score, which caused us to not place as high as we wanted to. All of the cheerleaders, including myself, will be working hard to fix our mistakes.”

The Hornets next competition is Saturday, Jan. 16, at Davison.
