Girl’s basketball loses last two games

The girls’ basketball team took the court against two Flint Metro League teams in their last two games.

The Hornets faced off at Fenton on Friday, Jan. 8, and then went on to play at Holly on Tuesday, Jan. 12.

Both games did not end in favor of the Hornets.

Kearsley lost to Holly 54-28 to Holly and against Fenton 51-34.

Holly Game

Against Holly, Kearsley struggled in the first half, only scoring eight points. At the half, Kearsley trailed 31-8.

Senior Diane Bond led the Hornets, scoring 10 points with one 3-pointer. She also contributed with four free throws.

Freshman Mackenzie Ramey put in work with six points. She also made herself known defensively with six total rebounds.

After the first half, the Hornets tried to get their offense going, which they did, scoring 20 points in the second half.

Unfortunately, it was not enough for the win as Holly scored 22 in the latter half.

Fenton Game

At Fenton, Kearsley failed to get the offense going in the opening half, only scoring 13 points to Fenton’s 25.

Junior Brandi Morgan was a force on offense, scoring 12 points with four 3-pointers.

Freshman Zaria Mitchner performed well, scoring eight points.

Seniors Emalie Lewis and Karmen Bishoff played well defensively, combining for five total rebounds.

The Hornets started to get the ball rolling offensively scoring 12 points in the third quarter alone but were not able to overcome their deficit, losing to the Tigers by 17 points.

With the two losses, the Hornets move their record to 2-7. They are also 0-4 in the league.

The Hornets look to turn things around against Brandon on Friday, Jan. 15, at 6 p.m.
