Softball beats Brandon twice

The softball team swept Brandon on Monday, May 16.

Kearsley 11, Brandon 1

Brandon hosted the softball team in a doubleheader on Monday, May 16.

The first game ended in a mercy as the Hornets won 11-1.

Senior Sydney Ouellette took the mound for the Hornets. Ouellette pitched a complete game, only giving up four hits and striking out three batters.

Seniors Syerra Burene and Ouellete did well at the plate combining for three hits and four RBI.

Junior Sidney Wager had a great game offensively as she went 3-for-3 and scored three runs.

Kearsley 11, Brandon 5

Kearsley continued to play well in the nightcap as they beat the Blackhawks 11-5.

Sophomore Olivia Dunsmore pitched in the second game. Dunsmore threw a complete game, giving up nine hits and striking out one.

Junior Chloe Jankowski had no trouble getting on base as she went 1-for-2 and drew two walks.

Junior Brittney Dick played well as she went 2-for-4 with two RBI. Dick also scored two runs, hit a double, and stole a base.

With the sweep, the Hornets are now 16-8 overall and 7-3 in Metro League play.

The Hornets host Brown City at home on Thursday, May 19, at 4 p.m.
