Softball dominates Corunna

The softball team won both games in a non-league doubleheader against Corunna on Wednesday, May 25.

The softball team hosted the Corunna Cavaliers for a doubleheader on Wednesday, May 25.

Kearsley 12, Corunna 1

Kearsley beat Corunna by mercy rule in the first game, winning 12-1.

Sophomore Olivia Dunsmore took the mound in the first game for the Hornets. Dunsmore pitched a complete game, five innings. Dunsmore only gave up five hits and struck out three batters.

Juniors Kayla Meyers, Hannah Scully, and Brittney Dick did well at the plate against the Cavaliers, combining for five hits.

Scully went 2-for-3 with a double and two RBI. Dick went 1-for-3 with a triple and two RBI.

Kearsley 10, Corunna 0

Kearsley shut out the Cavaliers in the nightcap, 10-0.

Senior Sydney Ouellette pitched for the Hornets in the second game. Ouellette hurled the shutout, only giving up five hits and striking out six.

Junior Chloe Jankowski and senior Brianna Finley play well offensively. They combined for five hits and four RBI. Finley also hit a double in the game.

Ouellette hit a home run against Corunna and went 3-for-4 at the plate. She also drove in five runs.

With the sweep, the Hornets improve their record to 21-9 overall and 10-4 in Metro League play.

The Hornets look to keep winning as they prepare for their final homeĀ game against Goodrich, Thursday, June 2, at 4 p.m.
