Cheer takes third place at first competition of the season

The Hornets took third place at the Cheer Coaches Association of Michigan Scholarship Invitational hosted by Brandon on Saturday, Dec. 12.

Dearborn Divine Child won the competition, trailed by Brandon.

With a score of 614.78, the girls were only 73.38 points away from tying for runners-up.

The team earned a score of 203.8 points for round one, 195.38 points for round two, and 215.6 for round three.

Senior Bethanie Freeman is pleased with how the Hornets performed at the competition.

“It was nice to start off the season by taking third place at our first competition,” Freeman said. “I hope we can continue to do well and even improve to place even higher in the future.”

The team’s next competition is Saturday, Jan. 9, at Flushing.
