Kearsley alumna Karleigh Krist hands out a sundae to one of her loyal customers at The Corner Cone on May 5.

Ever since I was a small child, my parents would take my sisters and I out for ice cream once in a while during the summer.

For a long time we enjoyed Ms. Smitty’s ice cream parlor in Genesee, but it closed about five years ago. This forced us to switch to a new ice cream place.

The closest one to us was The Corner Cone, on the corner of Coldwater and Irish roads.

Many people know this place as the “Name of the Day” place; every day during the ice cream season, a different name will be put on the sign outside, and if it’s your name you got a free cone. You can get a free cone even if your name is spelled differently from the sign.

This place is awesome and the ice cream is delicious. The employees can make almost any crazy ice cream creation out there.

The ice cream is Hershey’s brand with 23 different flavors to choose from. There are also more than 24 flavors of soft serve.

A single of the hand-dipped is $2.59 and a small of the soft serve is $1.99.

The waffle cones are made from scratch every day and the serving sizes of the ice cream are decent.

The best part, however, is the girls that work there. They are kind, polite, and enthusiastic. They truly love their jobs, and it makes the whole experience even better.

Another great point is the fact that there is pizza right next door at Baby Jake’s.

The dough is made fresh daily, the sauce is homemade, and all of the ingredients are fresh. The prices may be a little high, but the quality of the food makes up for it.

Even though pizza is not sold by the slice, the employees can whip up a small pizza in about five minutes.

Baby Jake’s delivers, and if you order from Outdoor Adventures Campground, there is no delivery fee.

The Corner Cone and Baby Jake’s Pizza both have delicious food and the service is great. Everyone should try each of them at least once.
