Schanick paves his way to greatness

It’s hard to measure the impact that senior Brendan Schanick has had on the Kearsley schools.

Starting with the three all-state pictures hanging in the hall, to the amazing character he displays during his school days.

Schanick is known for his outgoing personality, commitment, and motivation for sports and his education.

“I would describe myself as a leader who prides himself in leading by example and always pushing myself to be the best overall person I can be,” said Schanick.

Schanick is involved in track, football, National Honors Society, and is a volunteer for youth football.

While his education is very important and he is planning to attend SVSU to study medicine and football.

Schanick has been playing since his youth and has excelled in his skill very much.

“Since my youth, my work ethic drives me to keep on wanting to be 1% better than I was yesterday. That is how I excel,” said Schanick.

Schanick also takes a huge role in track and field, with his all-state picture on the wall for shot put, he truly makes a huge impact in this sport.

“I had the motivation to go into shot put because I enjoyed trying it in middle school and wanted to see how I would compete in high school. I also loved Mr. Simms as the coach,” said Schanick.

While he enjoys shot put, he is fully committed to football as he plans to attend Saginaw Valley State University in the fall of 2022.

As he had many offers from many different colleges, he strongly chose SVSU, as it was the best option for him.

“I committed to SVSU because I love the coaching staff and truly know they care about me. Plus I love the school and have a bunch of friends up there already,” said Schanick.

While Schanick takes pride in all he has accomplished within the sports he plays, he also takes pride in his academic work.

With High Honors and a GPA of 4.022 and good standing in the National Honors Society, Schanick does well in his academics.

Senior Ivy Sanchez is the president of the National Honors Society and she believes Brendan Schanick is an academic leader and a good role model.

“Brendan is a great leader who leads by example and pushes everyone around him to succeed. He is someone who is funny, but focused when the time to be serious. He is very smart and fun to be around,” said Sanchez.

Brendan has always focused on schools and sports and has a very strong work ethic. His sister Emily Schanick has seen his work ethic at home and in school.

“Brendan has always had a good work ethic, he will always be working on himself and watching film to improve his skills,” said Emily Schanick.

Schanick is known around the school for his amazing character and the impacts he has made on the football and track team and the impacts he has made in the school academically and his amazing work ethic.

Schanick’s work ethic and good leadership will set him up for success for his future and his future plans in the workplace. Schanick sets himself for success and paves his way to greatness.
