Quiz bowl places second in Metro League
Quiz bowl took second place in the Metro League tournament Wednesday, March 13, allowing the team to advance to the state tournament.
In its first match of the day, Keasley triumphed against Linden with a score of 320-195. Junior Connor Earegood contributed 10 points to the round, allowing the Hornets to move to the next round.
In the next match against Clio, Kearsley dominated once again with a score of 375-175. Junior Chris Moyer contributed four points to the round, and Earegood contributed a whopping 12 questions answered.
In the semifinals against Flushing, the Raiders proved too hard to beat, resulting in a loss for Kearsley 475-260. Despite the loss, Earegood answered nine questions and Moyer answered one.
In the final round of the day, the Hornets, once again, faced a loss against Flushing. Senior Tyler Jamerson contributed three points to the round, Earegood had seven questions answered.
After facing two losses, Kearsley won in the losers bracket, finishing as the league runner-up and advancing to the state tournament in April.
Moyer, captain, is proud of the team this year.
“I’m very happy we can go to states, and I think it shows how much effort we’ve put into quiz bowl,” Moyer said.
