Wrestlers take third at league tournament

The wrestling team finished in third place at the Flint Metro League tournament hosted by Clio on Feb.7 with five wrestlers winning their weight classes.

Clio won with 194.5 points, Brandon was second with 189, and Kearsley was third with 180.5.

After combining team points from dual meets and the league tournament, Clio and Brandon ended up tying for first place in the league with 24 points. Kearsley finished third with 22 points.

Five grapplers from Kearsley claimed individual league championships in their weight classes, earning All-League honors.

These wrestlers were seniors James Davis (171 lbs.) and Jakob Chapman (119 lbs.), junior Travis Wildfong (140 lbs.), sophomore Dylan Terrance (152 lbs.), and freshman Andy Ruhstorfer (103 lbs.).

Three wrestlers earned 3rd team, All-League honors.  They were junior Merrick White (275 lbs.), sophomore Reese Harburn (189 lbs.), and freshman Malik Davis (145 lbs.).

In addition, the Hornets’ coach, Mr. Luther Brown, was named the Flint Metro League coach of the year.
