Softball defeats Blackhawks, ties for third in league

On Tuesday, May 22, the softball team ended its regular season defeating Brandon 16-1 in the first game and 14-4 in the second game.

In the first game, senior Olivia Dunsmore was the winning pitcher.

Kearsley hit the ball well. Eight batters had at least one hit while junior Halle Parish and junior Isabelle Easton each had a double to go along with a single.

In addition, sophomore Claire Ouellette and sophomore Lily Brown both had home runs.

In the second game, Easton earned the win on the mound.

Parish and Oullette were perfect in the batter’s box, hitting three for three.

Four other Hornets earned at least one hit.

Junior Jacee Sword and Easton each hit a double in the nightcap.

Kearsley finished the regular season 11-5 in the Metro League, tied with Clio for third place.

Swartz Creek won the league at 15-1, while Linden was runner-up at 12-4.

The Hornets start MHSAA Division 2 district play Saturday, June 2, at Birch Run. Kearsley plays Clio in the opening round with the first pitch scheduled  for 10 a.m.
