The softball team split a non-league doubleheader Thursday, May 24, with Grand Blanc.

The Hornets were shut out by the Bobcats in the first game 3-0. But Kearsley bounced back, winning the second game 10-4.

In the first game, senior Olivia Dunsmore was the losing pitcher, only giving up six hits.

Senior Desiree Lewis and junior Halle Parish both contributed two hits in the first game.

In the second game, junior Isabelle Easton pitched, collecting the win.

Sophomore Alexis Echols led the offense for Kearsley in the second game with four hits.

In addition, sophomore Claire Ouellette and Lewis had two hits apiece.

The Hornets will start the MHSAA Division 2 tournament with district plat at Birch Run Saturday, June 2.

Kearsley takes on Clio in the first semifinal at 10 a.m. The winner will play the winner of the Birch Run-Mt Morris semifinal 2 p.m. for the district title.
