Grapplers dominate at Marysville tournament

The wrestling team shows their winning bracket at the Marysville Gatorade Duals.

The wrestling team won the Marysville Gatorade Duals tournament on Jan. 17, defeating Rochester Adams 41-31 in the finals to win.

During the invitational the Hornets defeated Clair 64-12, Croswell-Lexington 46-27, and Bay City Western 33-27.

The Hornets ended the night with five wrestlers going undefeated.

These undefeated wrestlers were senior James Davis, juniors Zach Elizondo and Travis Wildfong, sophomores Brandon Byzinski and Marcus Moss, and freshman Andy Ruhstorfer.

Assistant Coach Tom Ruhstorfer said the boys wrestled with a lot of determination.

“The boys wrestled tough,” Ruhstorfer said. “They had a lot of heart today. The boys pushed through everything. They were pumped and ready to go today.”
