Students may turn in drivers training applications starting Feb. 1

Every year, KHS offers drivers training to students in the summer.

This summer classes are June 15 to July 3, Monday through Friday. The first session will be 7-9 a.m., and the second session will be from 9-11 a.m.

If the dates of the first classes are inconvenient for students, they can take the classes from July 6 to July 24. Times will be the same as the June classes.

Students should consider their family vacations, sport camps, and other plans over the summer to determine which dates to sign up for.

Classes cost $385, including Segment One, Segment Two, and the $50 non-refundable deposit. The $50 deposit is required when students turn in their applications to reserve their spots. The rest of the balance is due before June 1.

Students can turn in their applications and pay either with cash or check during their lunch. Checks can be made out to Kearsley Schools.

However, drivers training is only available to students whose birthdays are before Nov. 1, 2000, and hold a GPA above 1.5.

Students are allowed to miss one day, but they will be required to take a makeup day if they do miss once.

Students who miss two days will have to retake the class.

In addition, students are required to have passed at least four of their classes in order to take drivers training.

Parents or guardians can register their children in the office starting Feb. 2. Applications must be submitted by May 1.

Sophomore Abby Watts took Kearsley’s drivers training class last summer.

“It wasn’t bad,” Watts said. “Actually, it was really fun. I got to see a lot of my friends and take drivers training with them.”
