When the weather turns cold, turn the page of a good book

When chilly weather arrives, it’s time to relax indoors with friends and family.

It’s time to play board games, watch movies, and catch up on missed TV shows.

But some people don’t like sitting in front of a huge screen all day.

While there are other things one can do to keep themselves busy and entertained, reading a book or two is probably the most beneficial. Here is a list of books to keep you busy during the holidays between family visits.

“Harry Potter and the Cursed Child”

This is the eighth edition to the Harry Potter series written by J.K. Rowling.

The first book, “Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone,” starts the series about Harry Potter, a young wizard, who struggles with obstacles during his years at a wizardry school.

The newest book, “Harry Potter and the Cursed Child,” is written in the form of a play.

It started as an original story that was written by J.K Rowling, Jack Thorne, and John Tiffany.

The book is placed 19 years after “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows,” the seventh book in the series, and picks up with Harry and his son, Albus, as the main characters.

“The Things They Carried”

Tim O’Brien wrote this novel, which is based on true events.

The character list is made up of a group of American men who are serving together in a platoon during the Vietnam war.

The platoon struggles through the war together, losing many on the way. The mental status of each soldier is different, and can be seen by how each situation is played out.

The stories, told from different men’s perspectives, tell how it might have felt like to be an American soldier at the time.

O’Brien allows the reader to look into the way life was lived during the war, and how the soldiers were forced to think and react.

“Whiskey Words & a Shovel II” 

The author, r.h. Sin, writes a story using poetry.

The whole book is written in the form of poetry, and each poem has some kind of life lesson that ties into what Sin wants the reader to think about.

This book can be emotionally powerful and empowering to the reader.

Sin teaches the reader about self-love, self-respect, encouragement, and how to live in a positive manner.

It is an interesting read for the people who enjoy reading and analyzing poetry.

“Night”

Elie Wiesel tells his and his family’s experience during the Holocaust.

The book begins before the Holocaust has begun and Wiesel tells of his town and the people he lived among.

The rest of the book tells different stories of how Wiesel lost his family, and what it was like to live in a concentration camp.

He experiences multiple kinds of punishments and treatment at the hands of the officers within the camps.

This is an emotionally powerful book that talks about what the Jewish people went through during the tragedy.

Wiesel passed away last year on July 2. This story serves as a legacy to Wiesel and how his family lived through the Holocaust.

“Thirteen Reasons Why “

This novel, written by Jay Asher in 2011, tells the story of a high school student who is forced to deal with the death of one of his classmates.

After the girl’s death, a set of tapes is sent around that were recorded by the young woman before she died.

Each person who receives the tapes must listen to them and then pass them to another person who is talked about on the tapes.

“Thirteen Reasons Why” deals with common issues that show up in a high school students lives, like bullying and peer pressure.

A holiday break is a good time to relax and read a book or two for pleasure instead of it being a requirement.
