Senior Chloe Jankowski displays the “Pink Out” T-shirts for the annual “Pink Out” football game to bring awareness to breast cancer. The game is Friday, Oct. 21, at Kearsley.

Are you going to this week’s football game? If you are, wear pink.

Every year, leaders of the student section plan a day dedicated to those who have fought breast cancer or who have the lost the battle.

This year the football team’s “Pink Out” game is Friday, Oct. 21. The Hornets Nest is selling “Pink Out” shirts for $10.

Seniors Chloe Jankowski and Mitchell Conely are in charge of the student section.

“We’re doing a pink out because October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month,” Jankowski said. “We just think it is a good idea because a lot of people have been affected by breast cancer.”

KHS holds a special place in their hearts for the month of October.

Jankowski said that since one of her teachers, Mrs. Brandi Schmidt, fought breast cancer twice it makes the disease more personal to her.

“Having had a teacher at KHS who has suffered from breast cancer gives us more of a reason to show support to the cause,” Jankowski said.

A portion of the proceeds will be donated to the National Breast Cancer Foundation, Inc.

This company’s mission is to provide help and inspire hope for those affected by breast cancer through early detection, education, and support services.

Jankowski and Conely post constantly on social media about the student section to keep people informed. Students can follow the account to stay updated.

“We post all over social media for the student section to get everyone we can involved,” Jankowski said. “We have a Twitter (account) for the student section to notify everyone about what the theme is that week.”

Jankowski and Conely encourage everyone to help fight breast cancer and support the football team as it battles the Clio Mustangs.
