Softball sweeps Brown City
Kearsley hosted the Brown City Green Devils in a doubleheader on Thursday, May 19.
Kearsley 5, Brown City 1
The Hornets beat the Green Devils 5-1 in the first game.
Senior Sydney Ouellette took the mound for the Hornets and pitched a complete game. Ouellette only gave up seven hits and struck out five batters.
Sophomore Kaitlyn Foco, junior Brittney Dick, and senior Brianna Finley played well at the plate as they each earned two hits apiece.
Dick also hit a double in the game.
Kearsley 2, Brown City 1
Kearsley would go on to beat Brown City in the next game 2-1.
Sophomore Olivia Dunsmore got the start for the Hornets. Dunsmore pitched five innings, giving up seven hits, one run, and striking out three batters.
Ouellette pitched in relief, going two innings. Ouellette would go on to give up three hits and strike out one batter.
Finley drove in the two runs of the game as she went 1-for-2 with two RBI.
Senior Brooke Crow lit up the Green Devils as she went 2-for-3 while scoring one run.
With the sweep, the Hornets are now 18-8 overall, 7-3 in Metro League play.
The Hornets look to continue playing well as they travel to Clio on Monday, May 23. The first pitch is at 4 p.m.
