The golf team lost its match to Fenton, Thursday, May 12.

Kearsley’s golf team fell to Fenton 173-169 on Thursday, May 12, at the Coyette Preserve in Fenton.

The top scorer for Kearsley was junior Connor Vansteenburg. He finished the match carding 41 strokes.

Senior Brian Sams followed closely behind Vansteenburg with 43 strokes, and senior Tyler Phipps was third for the team with 44 strokes.

The Hornets are now 4-3 in the Metro League.

Vansteenburg was upset with the loss but is anticipating the post-season tournament.

“It was a tough loss in a really close game. Of course it was upsetting,” Vansteenburg said. “We are confident for the upcoming tournament and expect a good outcome.”

The Hornets play next Monday, May 16, in the Flint Metro League Post-Season Tournament at Fenton Farms.
