Kearsley won a close match against Linden, Tuesday, May 3.

The golf team triumphed over Linden with a score of 173-177 on Tuesday, May 3.

Leading the Hornets was senior Brian Sams, carding his best score this season, with 39 strokes.

Sams was followed by junior Connor Vansteenburg and sophomore Jack Vollmar, totaling 44 strokes each.

Although the team won, Vollmar still feels the team could have played better.

“I feel like we definitely did not play as well as we could have,” Vollmar said. “Our top guy (Sams) came through with a strong round and put us on his back.”

Vollmar, however, still has confidence for the upcoming matches.

“If we continue having a game plan and strategy going into each match, I think there is no one we can’t beat,” Vollmar said.

The Hornets have are 2-2 in the Metro League so far.

Their next match is Thursday, May 5, against Brandon at the Flint Elks Club.
