Golf wins match against Brandon, sets record

The golf team won its match against Brandon, Thursday, May 5.

The golf team beat Brandon 160-189 on Thursday, May 5.

The Hornets shot a team best score under Coach Andy Nester, setting a record.

Senior Brian Sams carded 37 strokes and led the Hornets to victory.

Junior Connor Vansteenburg followed close behind Sams with 40 strokes, and sophomore Jack Vollmar finished with 41 strokes.

Sams was ecstatic about this win and the record.

“It makes our team look really good. People are actually seeing what we are capable of,” Sams said.

He thinks positive things are coming for the Hornets.

“This helps the team because it makes us have more momentum to work harder,” Sams said.

Kearsley is now 3-2 in the Metro League.

The Hornets compete next at the Genesee County Championships at the Flint Elks Club, Monday, May 9.
