The cheer team flipped to first place at Swartz Creek
The cheer team snatched its first win of the season Saturday, Jan. 23, at Swartz Creek.
Clio came in second, trailed by Flushing.
The Hornets improved their round three score, lowering their number of penalties to end with a 16-point lead over Clio.
The cheerleaders’ final score was 738 points.
All Kearsley cheer teams took first place, making it a clean sweep for the district’s cheerleading program.
Junior Hailey Baltosser is very proud of “all the Kearsley cheer teams.”
“Armstrong Middle School did great and junior varsity did wonderful as well, each taking first place,” Baltosser said.
A total of eight teams participated in the Division 2 varsity competition.
“The varsity team really stepped it up this week,” Baltosser said. “We went from getting fifth and third place to jumping to first, which I am really happy about. Hopefully, we keep it up and get another win next competition.”
The Hornets next competition is a league meet hosted by Holly on Wednesday, Jan. 27.
