For the second night in a row, the play “Drop Dead Juliet” received a rousing round of applause.

Everyone knows the famous true-love ending, where Romeo thinks Juliet is dead, so he kills himself. Juliet then awakens from her false death only to find Romeo dead, so she kills herself with a dagger.

However, in the parody version called “Drop Dead, Juliet!” co-directors Mr. John Hall and Mrs. Laura Hall spun the tragic love story.

For Saturday night’s performance, 180 people attended the play, raking in $950 for the theater department.

I would highly recommend anyone to see this play.

In Kearsley’s play,  Juliet (Lindsay Nofs) takes it upon herself to confront William Shakespeare (Rebecca Taylor) about the final death scene of the play.

Juliet wants “more love, less death” and she makes her point pretty clear.

The entire play was full of funny allusions and silly jokes.

During the play, Juliet tells Shakespeare how to rewrite “Romeo and Juliet.” She demands a more feminine touch, as well as more dancing.

Junior Linsday Nofs played the lead role of Juliet on second night’s performance, Nov. 22.

Nofs’ shrill and demanding voice was a good choice for Juliet’s part.

In fact, Mr. and Mrs. Hall did a fantastic job at choosing people to play each role.

If you went to the play, be a critic. How was it?

It seemed as though each role was tailored to its actor’s personality.

Being just over an hour long, the play was nearly seamless.

However, there was a hiccup during the scene before the intermission. There was a long pause with looks of confusion covering the actors’ faces.

After intermission, there was a switch between actors playing Shakespeare, which caused a little more confusion among the audience.

Nonetheless, the cast and crew executed this play phenomenally.
