Senior Dani Doolan signs her National Letter of Intent on May 8 to bowl at Lincoln University (Mo.) supported by her parents.

Senior Dani Doolan will take her bowling talents to the collegiate level after graduation.

Lincoln University, located in Jefferson City, Mo., offered Doolan a scholarship for bowling, and she took it.

Doolan signed her National Letter of Intent in the media center on May 8, committing to the university.

During Doolan’s junior year, she averaged 188 per game to qualify for the final block of 16 at the state singles final.

She was knocked out in the first round by her teammate, senior Kayla Emmendorfer, who ended up third that year, while Dooland placed 14th.

She also qualified for the individual state finals as a senior, averaging a 180 in the first six games of the singles final. She finished 20th, missing the qualifying block of the top 16.

Doolan said she would not be where she is without her teammates.

“I wouldn’t trade these girls for the world,” Doolan said. “I wouldn’t trade the program for the world. They’ve helped me become the bowler I am today.”

Doolan will be a part of the first bowling team at Lincoln as their No. 1 recruit.

Lincoln will sponsor woman’s bowling as a sport beginning with the 2015-2016 season.

Mr. Shawn Flanary is the head coach of the Blue Tigers’ bowling program. Doolan likes her future coach and said Flanary is similar to her high school coach, Mr. Rob Ploof.

“He’s very knowledgeable about the game, and he loves the game,” Doolan said. “It’s nice to have a coach like that because it’s very relatable.”

Mr. Paul Gaudard, athletics director, said Doolan is Kearsley’s fifth athlete to receive a sport scholarship this year, and he is extremely excited for her.

“It’s always exciting to see student-athletes who put a lot of work into their sports go further, and I know she will succeed as she has done here at Kearsley,” Gaudard said.
