Boys’ track slides pass Linden, Flushing in double-dual competition
The boys’ track swept its double-dual meet at Linden on May 6, slipping past the Eagles 69-68 and squeezing by Flushing 70 1/2 – 66 1/2.
The meet came down to the final race, the 1600-meter relay. Kearsley won the relay, securing victories over both schools.
Three of the four relay teams took first place.
- 3200-meter relay (Anton Webster, Trevor Gehrig, Darrion Younger, Jonathan McKay) 8:37.77
- 800 relay ( Matt Parkinson, Younger, McKay, Deitrick Young) 1:32.45.
- 1600 relay (Webster, Matt Worley, Gehrig, McKay) 3:27.84
Four individual athletes won their events.
- 800 run- Webster, 2:00.34
- 400 dash- McKay, 51.01
- High jump- Brandon Scales, 6-feet, 0-inches
- Shot put- Jaylen Shock, 46-0
Two Hornets were runners up.
- 200 dash- Younger, 23.38
- Long jump- Gavin Eston, 17-7.5
Five athletes placed third.
- 100 dash- Parkinson, 11.58
- 200 dash- Parkinson, 23.54
- 300 hurdles- Jason Clark, 42.97
- Long jump- Dakotah Doman, 17-4.5
- 800 run- Gehrig, 2:04.81
