McKay takes second in a sprint at Goodrich Invite
The girls track and field team finished in ninth place at the Goodrich Invitational on May 1, scoring 21 points.
Brandon won the meet with 165 points and Powers Catholic was runner up with 125 points.
The Hornets finished in the top six in five events, earning eight girls medals.
The top performer of the night was sophomore Ave’r McKay.
She ran a 26.6 in the 200-meter dash, placing 2nd.
The 1600-relay team fininshed fifth with a time of 4:32.0. The team consisted of juniors Diane Bond, Emalie Lewis, Miranda Lumetta and McKay.
Senior Alicia Konsez finished sixth in the 100 hurdles (17.5), Bond was sixth 800 run (2:41.4), and senior Shay Johnson finished sixth in the shot put with a throw of 28-feet, 1 1/4-inch.
