The golf team faced Swartz Creek on April 28 and lost 189-170.

Sophomore Connor Vansteenburg and junior Tyler Phipps tied for Kearsley’s low, both shooting a 46.

Junior Kross Kenny was third  with a 47, and freshman Jack Vollmar was fourth with an even 50 strokes.

Coach Andy Nester is ambitious about the team going forward.

“My younger players are gaining the experience needed to have the type of team that will contend for the top of the Metro League next year,” Nester said. “I believe the returning team will be a solid group from which we have to add one to two players to be very competitive next year.”

The Hornets were attempting to recover from the April 21 home loss to Holly 190-174.

Against Holly, junior Brian Sams recorded the fewest strokes for Kearsley with 44.

Phipps and senior Evan Flood both shot a 48.

The Hornets next event is April 29 against Fenton High School.
