Girls basketball defeated Linden 42-26 Friday, Feb. 28.

The Hornets took flight early on, holding an 18-13 lead after the first half.

The second half came with the Hornets creating a larger gap, scoring 24 points to Linden’s 13.

Senior Kamryn Palka believes the second half of the game allowed the team to win.

“We really came out and played our best in the second half,” Palka said. “We drove hard to the basket and kept shooting the whole half.”

The Hornets will be in action Monday, March 2, for the first round of the Division 3 District 4 championship, at Grand Blanc. They will play against Davison at 6 p.m.

Palka said the team feels confident as the Hornets buzz into the district championship.

“Going into districts tonight, we’re feeling pretty confident,” Palka said. “But we know that we need to play as a team and play our game if we want to come out on top.”

The team’s record sits at 15-5 overall and 12-3 in the Metro League.
