Quiz Bowl survives OT scare
During the second Metro League quiz bowl meet Wednesday, Feb. 5, the quiz bowl team went undefeated again with victories over Clio, Swartz Creek, and Owosso.
The Hornets stomped the Mustangs with a final score of 540-55
Senior Connor Earegood earned 240 points for the Hornets, answering 16 questions.
The 16-answer tally is Earegood’s highest of the Metro League season.
The Hornets took two one-minute overtimes to slay the Dragons by a 390-335 margin.
The first overtime was scoreless for both sides.
The second overtime saw Earegood, senior Cameron Gohs, and junior Matt Ehrmantraut took charge.
During the match, Earegood contributed eight questions, scoring 120 points for the Hornets.
Senior Chris Moyer answered four questions.
The Hornets swarmed Owosso with a final score of 495-175.
Though it was a quick victory, Earegood scored 135 points, answering nine questions.
The Hornets are undefeated, sitting atop the Metro League standings with six victories.
The Hornets will face Linden and Corunna in the third regular-season meet Wednesday, Feb. 12.
