The girls bowling team has yet again won its MHSAA regional — the sixth time in the last seven years.

Senior Alexis Roof, a four-year varsity bowler, is thrilled about her team’s performance.

“I’m really proud,” Roof said. “We have gained a lot of trust in each other over these past few weeks.”

The Hornets did not start off strong on Friday, Feb. 22, as they usually do, bowling Baker games of 167 and 166 at Monitor lanes in Bay City.

Getting back in its usual momentum, the team bowled games of 206, 186, 196, 149, for a total of 1,070.

Qualifying first after the team portion, the Hornets moved to individuals and bowled 979 for their first game.

Kearsley then bowled a 993, finishing with a 1,051 total and a total pinfall of 4,093.

The Hornets finished first overall by more than a 500-pin difference.

Junior Imari Blond led the team with three games of more than 200 pins.

Roof followed closely behind with games of 204, 203, and 163.

Sophomores Emilea Sturk and Megan Timm chipped in with games of 212 and 206 for Sturk, and 160 and 211 for Timm.

Junior Samantha Timm chimed in with games of 186 and 214.

The team now moves into the state final, which is Friday, March 1, at Century Bowl in Waterford.

Calling it, “the blitz for six” the Hornets are hungry for their sixth consecutive state title, seventh overall.

Junior Samantha Timm said her team is ready to compete.

“We’re definitely ready (for the competition),” Timm said. “We have been working all season to get to this point. It’s go time.”
