The boys basketball team defeated Owosso in its last home game 43-30 on Friday, Feb. 15.

Sophomore Braylon Silvas led the team to victory with 15 points.

Senior Saif Dawan scored an additional 10 points for the team.

Dawan said he is happy with the team’s performance this season and is shocked that it is almost over.

“It (the end of the season) comes around super fast,” Dawan said. “When you’re playing, you really don’t count down how many games you have left and then before you know it, it’s your last game.”

Coach Paul Adas said the Owosso game was a “nice win” and “guaranteed a winning season” for the team.

Seniors Trevor Shaheen and Dawan were honored in celebration of senior night.

Dawan said clinching a final victory on his home court feels good.

“I’m just happy that I got this far (athletically) in the season and (that I) got to win my last ever home game,” Dawan said. “There was a lot of emotions, but mostly good emotions, and the win made it better.”

The boys basketball team is now 7-7 in the Metro League, and 11-7 overall.

The Hornets’ next game will be at Holly on Wednesday, Feb. 20.
