The girls basketball team won its home league game 61-50 against Swartz Creek on Friday, Jan. 4.

Kearsley dominated the first quarter, outscoring the Dragons 24-8 and never looked back.

Kearsley’s top scorer was junior Jakeira Wash, scoring 19 points.

The Walker sisters also scored in double digits. Junior Sydney Walker aided the team with 15 points, and freshman Saniaa Walker scored 13.

Wash also had six assists and four steals, while Sydney had three steals.

Over break, the Hornets lost their showcase game against Macomb Dakota 56-39.

They are now 4-2 overall and 3-1 league.

The girls will be out on the court Tuesday, Jan. 8, at Linden.
