Competitive cheer wins two invitationals

The cheer team won its last two competitions in January.

The cheer team has been practicing long and hard, and the hard work has paid off.

The cheer team took first place in the last two competitions this week.

Bobcat Invitational

On Saturday, Jan. 27, the cheer team took first place in the 2018 Bobcat Cheer Classic invitational.

The event took place at Grand Blanc High School.

The team earned a total of 220.50 points during round one, 213.48 points during round two, and 307.70 during round three.

The Hornets earned a grand total of 741.68 points.

Swartz Creek took second place with 717.50 points. Fenton took third place with 717.06.

Junior Makenzie Boillat thinks the team did well.

“We did really good,” Boillat said. “We got first place and our round two score was the best yet.”

The teams next competition is Saturday, Feb. 3 at home. Starting time is 10 a.m.

Flint Metro League Jamboree #2

On Wednesday, Jan. 24, the cheer team took first place in the Flint Metro League Jamboree #2.

The event took place at Linden High School.

The team earned a total of 217.20 points during round one, 194.22 points during round two, and 293.90 points during round three.

Kearsley earned a grand total of 695.32 points.

Clio took second place with 679.68 points. Swartz Creek took third place with 673.26 points.

Junior Shelby Price notes that the team has worked really hard this season.

“We’ve been doing great this season. It has, so far, been fantastic,” Price said. “We’ve been working really hard.”
