The boys basketball team took on the Brandon Blackhawks on Tuesday, Jan. 16, at Brandon High School.

The Hornets defeated the Blackhawks 85-53, picking up their first league victory of the season.

Kearsley led the game 18-5 in the first quarter and continued to lead throughout the night, bringing home its victory.

Junior Saif Dawan led the team with 17 points. Following Dawan was freshman Jace Chapman with 16 points.

Other top scorers were senior Taveon Harris with 13 points, as well as junior Trevor Shaheen and senior Kyle Palka, who each scored 11 points.

Kearsley is now 4-6 in the season and 1-5 in Flint Metro League.

The next game is on the Hornets’ home court against Owosso on Wednesday, Jan. 17.
