Current senior Mallory Teed prepares to return the ball and junior Ellena Dye watches her teammate in a match from 2017.

Although tennis season doesn’t begin until spring, the girls team is beginning to prepare for the season.

Those who are interested in joining the team are encouraged to come out to the clinics.

Tennis clinics will take place every Sunday, beginning Jan. 7, and go until March 11.

Coach Corey Fisher is looking forward to the season to start.

“I’m very excited that the girls are starting the lessons to begin,” Fisher said. “We have a very experienced team due to these lessons, and it should be a very good season.”

The clinics will start at 1:30 p.m. and end at 3:30 p.m. at Genesys Athletic Club in Grand Blanc.

No experience is needed to attend.

Fisher said that he has received good feedback from players who have attended before.

“Some players have told me that the clinics were very beneficial,” Fisher said. “They make coming into tryouts less stressful.”

The cost of the clinics will be $120, if paid in full, or $15 per weekly lesson.

Junior Brooklynn Smith has been attending the clinics for three years and encourages girls to give it a shot.

“You learn the basics of the sport,” Smith said. “Attending before the season made me feel more comfortable when it came time for tryouts.”
