If you turned on the radio anytime this year you definitely heard at least a few of these songs.

These are a few of my favorite pop songs of 2017.

“Bad at Love” – Halsey

Released on Aug. 22, this song makes my list because I have always been a big fan of Halsey.

Now that she is mainstream, I am proud to say she makes the top of my list for pop hits of 2017.

This song talks about how she is bad at love, and she describes past relationships she was in throughout the song.

“I met a girl with California eyes and I thought that she could really be the one this time, but I never got the chance to make her mine because she fell in love with little thin white lines.”

Halsey always incorporates deep messages in her music and uses interesting, alternative type music in her songs.

“Sign of the Times” – Harry Styles

This song was released April 7 and quickly became very popular. This isn’t surprising because of how popular the artist is.

A former One Direction member, Styles is off on his own, making new music, and good new music at that.

This song talks about hard times in life. We all have them and we will get through them.

He says, “Just stop your crying. It’s the sign of the times.”

The song has a very melancholy feeling and will put you in a mood when you listen to it. This makes the song much more intriguing.

“Havana” – Camila Cabello

On Aug. 3, Cabello released her song “Havana.” Like Styles, she was formerly in a band with friends she made on the TV show “The Voice.”

This was one of my favorite summer songs.

It is very upbeat and happy. It makes you think of palm trees and warm weather.

Her voice is so electrifying and beautiful.

This song is about summer love. She describes how a boy made her feel so good for only knowing him for a short time.

“Too Good at Goodbyes” – Sam Smith

Released on Sept. 8, Smith had an instant hit. With the many hits he has had, like “Stay With Me,” it’s easy to see why it got so popular so fast.

This song is a sad love story about how Smith has always had trouble with love.

He says, “Every time I open up it hurts, so I’m never gonna get too close to you, even when I mean the most to you, in case you go and leave me in the dirt.”

You can feel the hurt in his voice as he sings about how he is too hurt to open up and love someone completely.

“1-800-273-8255” – Logic Ft. Alessia Cara & Khalid

Released on April 28, this song caught the attention of many with the title being the phone number to a suicide hotline.

Logic is all about promoting suicide awareness and this song shows that.

He talks about not wanting to be alive anymore and throughout the story it changes from not wanting to be alive to not wanting to die anymore.

I like the message he gives in his music, promoting love instead of hate.
