“Thor: Ragnarok” was released on Friday, Nov. 3.

One of the most anticipated movies of the year, “Thor: Ragnarok,” is the most recent film in the ongoing Marvel cinematic universe.

There was a lot of buzz around the film’s trailer, featuring funny one-liners and Led Zeppelin’s “Immigrant Song.”

The movie has Thor (Chris Hemsworth) trapped in a gladiatorial battle against his former ally, the Hulk (Mark Ruffalo), and attempting to escape in time to save his homeland from destruction by his villainous sister Hela (Cate Blanchett).

It has an 8.2 on IMDb and 92 percent of critics liked it, according to Rotten Tomatoes.

I thought this film was very enjoyable, but it does have the issues that many of the Marvel films have had up to this point.

The villain is bland and unmemorable and the soundtrack, besides the famous pop songs you will recognize, is unimaginative. There are things they put in simply to set up future films.

These flaws are overshadowed by the pure entertainment value.

Despite being over two hours long, this movie seems to fly by with every laugh and cheer.

The action is choreographed excellently, and the cinematography is captivating.

Actors like Jeff Goldblum, Karl Urban, and Taika Waititi give hilarious performances.

Mr. Chris Schmidt, coach of the quiz bowl and chess teams, thought it was a enjoyable movie.

“There was a lot of action and comedy,” Schmidt said. “They balanced the comedy and drama very well.”

Schmidt also appreciated the numerous references to 1980s’ pop culture.

Schmidt said, “I enjoyed them, but a younger audience might not.”

All in all, I would give “Thor: Ragnarok” a seven out of 10 stars. I would recommend this film to anyone who likes action, comedy, and a good time.
