Bryce Jenkins led Kearsley with 10 points against Davison on Jan. 6. Kearsley lost 42-54.

The Hornets lost their home opener Jan. 6 against the Davison Cardinals 54-42.

Coach Paul Adas said the boys’ defense impressed him for most of the game, and  that it was hard to stop Davison’s 6-foot-9 center Frank Vukaj, who led all scorers with 25 points.

“Davison’s big man was too much for the Hornets to overcome. Our team defense was very impressive for most of the game,” Adas said. “We pressured the ball and created 22 turnovers, but we failed to score off of the Davison turnovers.”

Senior Bryce Jenkins led the team with 10 points.

Senior Jalen Galley chipped in nine points, and senior Anton Webster added eight.

Kearsley is 3-3 overall, 1-2 in the Metro League.
