McKay, Ramey, Wheeler lead girls track at Holly

Senior Ave’r McKay followed by sophomores Mackenzie Ramey and Mary Wheeler led the Hornets in the track and field meet held at Holly on Tuesday, April 19.

The Hornets beat Holly 74-62 but lost to Fenton 104-33.

McKay won two events. She stole first with 27.37 in the 200-meter dash. In the 400, McKay also seized first in 1:01.08.

The Hornets also won both throwing events.

Ramey placed first in the shot put by throwing 32 feet, 6 inches.

Wheeler threw for first place in the discus with a toss of 88-0, while junior Barbara Hawes placed fourth, tossing the discus 72-10.

In the high jump, freshman Sydney Walker finished second, jumping 4-6.

In addition, the pole vault saw senior Kaitlyn Alburtus finish in fourth. She vaulted 7-0.

On the track, McKay also scored in the 100, taking second with a time of 12.98.

Freshman Stacia Tipton also participated in the 200. Tipton took fourth with a time of 29.69.

Senior Madison White, took fourth place in the 300 hurdles. She was clocked in at 56.80.

In the relays, the 800-relay team of Amelia Boggs, Madison Jordan, Walker, and Tipton took second in 2:01.2.

In 1600 relay, the team of McKay, Jordan, Boggs, and Tipton placed second, with the time of 4:36.36.

Finally, the team made up of Nisha Hartley, Dever, Chloe Vollmar, and Savannah Jones placed second in the 3200 relay. Their time was 12:01.89.

Kearsley is 1-1 in the league.

The Hornets’ next meet will take place Friday, May 21, at Frankenmuth.
