The boys basketball team won a pair of games on the backs of two seniors who scored career highs.

Monday, Feb. 13

The Hornets beat Linden 59-41, led by senior Darrion Younger’s career-high 20 points.

Consistent scoring was key as the Hornets scored 13 or more points in each quarter, maintaining a lead through most of the game.

Linden struggled offensively, putting up only two points in the second quarter, leaving them down 27-15 at halftime.

Senior Chandler Ford chipped in 13 points, while junior Taveon Harris added 12.

Ford said that the team stayed focused on defense, which helped shut Linden down.

“Our defensive intensity kept us in the game and allowed us to pull away a win,” Ford said.

The Hornets scored an impressive 62 points to top Fenton’s 55.

Ford was hot on offense as he scored a season-high 21 points, only two short of his career high.

While the Hornets struggled early, a 21-point fourth quarter helped them secure the win.

Harris also chipped in 13 points, while junior Devyn Sredich contributed 10.

Younger scored nine, meaning he and Ford combined for 63 of the Hornets’ 121 points over the two games.

The team will look to pick up a third straight win tonight when they host the Holly’s Bronchos at 7 p.m.
